Prepping Part 1

Here is what the lower gallery looked like this morning upon arrival.



After a few hours of hard work - fueled by M&M's (peanut, thank you) and Round Table, here is where we left it.


See you all on Thursday night at the reception. It's from 6-8, remember?!

Yes, I know Senior Talent Show is the same night, but you can come by before and hang with the cool kids first!

Art Show Info

The reception for this year's installment of the Los Gatos Museum Art Show will be Thursday, April 28th, from 6-8 pm.

The show will officially open on that day and run through May 19th.
If you cannot make it to the reception, the regular museum hours are Wed. - Sun. from 12-4pm.

The museum is located on the corner of Main St. and Tait Ave. near downtown LG.

Yes, It's Amazing News Tuesday!

I just received the email from Mr. Autrey.

Beginning next year BOTH Art 3 and Art 4 students will fulfill their applied art credit.

Contest = Study Drawing

Here is the link for the Black Keys concert poster contest I was telling you about. If you want to use this as a study drawing, fine by me. We can take a pic of it later and all, but you need to pay attention to the specs when coming up with your design.

Acrylic Mahem

So, change of plans. Kind of.
All acrylic paintings from everyone will be due before spring break.
Please, PLEASE, do not wait until the last minute to give them to me. A happy Smithy that will not make - to receive 50 paintings on canvas all at once, each with multiple pieces of paper, etc.

Remember, also, that the week we come back from break your study drawings will be due.

Then on the 25th of April I will be setting up the show at the LG Museum, so that week after spring break will be busy as heck with me getting things prepped.

BTW, the next set, #5, will be the last chance to get some additional pieces able to be viewed for the show.

Smile! But be prepared to work really diligently over the next 2 weeks!!!

Extra Credit

Yes, that's right, I'm offering a totally random extra credit opportunity.

Yes, that's right, it's inspired by the funny "portrait" Griffin drew of me yesterday at lunch.
If you haven't seen it yet, it's posted on fb and on the cabinet door in the room.

So let's get down to business:

Any media
9x12" drawing paper
quality execution
"illustration" of yours truly

if you need ideas you can see the above mentioned
some sort of "activity" or theme would be beneficial

DUE on April 1 or before.

Have fun and make it funny (as in make as much fun as you want ... in a good way)
Think of actions, phrases, objects, etc. that help describe the subject (me) and how they can be incorporated.

Sketch out some ideas in your sketchbook, but please create the piece itself on your own time. It is extra credit after all.

Schools to Schools Meeting

For those of you who will be here next year, we are tentatively planning on doing a couple of collaborative projects with the Day School in Kenya. There will be a meeting in Homa's room on Wed. 3/23 during tutorial if you want some more information.

I officially received the printed materials from JumpstArt up as OSU in the mail yesterday.
I can make a copy of any of the application materials for you if you are interested.
