Sometimes it pays to look around

The interwebs are a great place to look and find inspiration.
It could be specific content, but it might be something kind of random - which are often the best.

Koosje Koene is one of those. Most of her images are pretty "simple" upon first glance, but you know there wouldn't be any sort of consistent style present if she hadn't done something over and over and over again.
She has some good work on her site and some great video content up on youtube - which you can see below.
There are some great and fun tips for keeping up a consistent sketchbook practice on her channel, and in the below video - which is why it is here, so I would say, check it out.

Cheers.

Daily Sketchbook 1/18

We are mid-way through the month (gasp), so it's time for the always favorite AOTM.
Come to my desk and start trimming down your handout and taping it in your sketchbook while I get you started.

Daily Sketchbook 2/3

I know you've been waiting for it, and since I intentionally didn't have one last month (meaning, I was busy dealing with wedding stuff and then took a couple of days off so I didn't have the time to mess with it), it is Artist of the Month time!
Seriously, calm down.

Come up to my desk with your sketchbook and PENCIL, and we'll get started.

This month it's the wonderful world of Francesco Clemente.

All the info you need to know (including links) can be found on Canvas if you are absent today.

Daily Sketchbook 1/5

Pull out the contents of your backpack or purse.
Ok, ok, it doesn't have to be everything, but you should have at least five to seven items there.
Please don't be too un-fun and take "easy" things like a stack of books out. Keys and pens and cool stuff that is challenging is way better.
Set them on your table and draw them in pencil to create a composition on your page.

If you came to class with nothing - or just not enough - share items with your neighbor. Put your things together and have both of you work from the same thing.

Please make sure you have all of the same stuff here on Thursday as we will be using it again then.

Oh, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The Daily Splice

I don't even know how I found out about Adam Hale or his work under The Daily Splice theme/moniker, but I love it.

There is a wonderful story behind the images.

"The Daily Splice was started early in 2015 as a platform to share my analogue collage work, created using free weekly London magazines. There’s an immediacy to the work in which current topics, trends and affairs are given new context, turning something disposable into something of permanence."

Find something that is discarded by someone else, and make something fantastic out of it. What a great goal/objective/direction.

Here are a couple of example images.
